PDF Linearization Optimizer

Optimize PDFs for fast web viewing with byte-serving support. First-page-fast delivery for large documents over HTTP.

Linearization restructures a PDF so that the first page and its resources appear at the beginning of the file. This enables a viewer to display the first page immediately while the rest of the document downloads in the background.

Hint table generation creates lookup structures that map page numbers to byte offsets within the file. Web viewers use these tables to request specific page ranges via HTTP byte-range requests without downloading the entire document.

Object ordering places shared resources like fonts and color profiles early in the file, followed by page-specific content in page order. This minimizes the data needed before each successive page can be rendered.

Incremental update compatibility ensures that linearized files can still accept incremental saves without breaking the linearization structure. A validation pass confirms that the resulting file meets the PDF linearization specification.
